1. GET YOUR ZZZ IN

We are so busy now a days with work, college, kids and assignments that we usually cut down on the amount of eye shut. This will have a negative effect on our body’s overtime and our skin won’t get the necessary time to renew itself. Sleep isn’t called beauty sleep for a reason; it is one of the only Free things we can do to keep it looking young, fresh and renewed. And while you’re getting your recommended 8 hours how about placing your sleepy head on a silk pillowcase? It is proven to reduce the creases in the skin and also helps with bed hair… sure give it a go!Need a little help. Niks Sleepwell Tea is amazing

2. Stay Protected!!

Ok I get it, we aren’t exactly living in the Tropical climate but we still need to add this gem into our skin regime. Basically there is UVA and UVB protection available in our foundations, moisturisers and lip-balms. UVA protects against Ageing and UVB protects against Burning, it isn’t the UVB we should be placing on our skin it’s the UVA because even when it’s raining,

snowing, hail and windy there will most definitely be Ultra Violet Ageing rays everywhere. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, it is the best anti ageing chance your skin will have! Check out our tinted Sunfilm SPF 30 or 50 with firming ingredients that will leave you glowing!

3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

We know you’ve heard this one many times aswell, but water acts as a great detox, helping to flush out the impurities in your system the right way! It also helps keeps the skin from getting puffy or dehydrated. If you really want to start the day right, squeeze the juice of half a lemon in to hot water – beats the coffee kick to get you moving.

4. TAKE YOUR MAKEUP OFF EVERY NIGHT

We are all guilty of this, we exhaust ourselves all day and the last thing we feel like doing it removing that lovely face of makeup. But if you were to know the damage leaving makeup does to your skin you might think different. First of all your skin breathes all day every day, breathing in makeup chemicals and parabens is enough for the day but to choke it at night when it is trying hard to renew itself is another thing! Not only are you prone to blemishes, blackheads, fine lines and spots from sleeping with your make up on, there is talks that every night you don’t remove your makeup your skin ages 3 whole days. Yikes, grab the cleanser now!!! Easy one that removes in seconds is Juliette Armand’s Bi-Phase eye makeup remover. If your feeling lazy you can always use Miceller Water which is your cleanser, toner, makeup remover and eye makeup remover in one

5. CHANGE YOUR PILLOWCASES REGULARLY

We are remembering to take our make-up off every night but then we go and put our lovely clean nourished face on the pillow we have been sweating on every night for the last week (and just think what’s on that pillow if we hadn’t taken our makeup off one night!) Try and change your pillowcase every few days to really help keep your skin looking at it’s freshest.

6. USE A SERUM

We have been told for years and years how important it is to use a moisturiser, it keeps the skin hydrated and moist, forms a protective layer and keeps some skin conditions at bay. But now serums have come out with a big bang, these glorious products not only push ingredients deeper into the skin, they also work with your moisturisers foe even better results! The serums can be hydrating, promote collagen, push in vitamin C, DNA repairing and calm red active skins. For more on the benefits of serums click here

7. SANITISE YOUR SMART PHONE

Even if we can’t see it, a lot of our personal belonging can be covered with dirt and bacteria especially our mobile phones, think about it, they go through the mill and often that bacteria transfers onto your skin causing pimples, blackheads and cysts. Do yourself and your phone a favor, wipe over it with an anti-bacteria wipe, you may be amazed how much dirt comes off!

8. SANITISE EVERYTHING!!

Remember anything that comes into contact with your face needs to be keep clean, the little things we forget about, that extra day between washing our hair, the collar of our coats and least us not forget our make up brushes!

9. SANITISE YOUR HANDS

While we are on the subject of how easy it is to spread germs, always remember to wash your hands throughout the day and keep them away from your face. Every time you touch your face you are putting sebum that has come out of your fingers and touched a thousand other things straight into those pores. Breakouts here we come!

10. FEED YOUR SKIN GOODNESS

Do not be afraid of these amazing fats they most certainly will not pile the weight on, in fact you could even lose weight! Munching on nuts, avocado, salmon and drizzles of olive oil will not only help your overall health, but also the omega 3 and 6 will plump out your fine lines and keep wrinkles at bay. The skin will be boosting with a glow and it will keep it moist which combats dry skin.

11. TAKE OUT THE RUBBISH

Food high in fats and sugar not only make our bodies sluggish they also make our skin feel sluggish. You might also find that specific foods are causing your skin to break out. Keep a food diary and watch what happens to your skin after certain foods, then cut them out of your diet and see if there is a difference.

12. DE-STRESS YOURSELF

Not only should you make sure you have time for you to unwind, like doing meditation but also look for products that contain calming ingredients that will help to calm and distress the skin such as lavender and chamomile.

13. GET OUT IN THE FRESH AIR

Let’s enjoy this good weather. Doesn’t our skin always look better after a holiday, that because we are outside so much more. Not only will it help with no. 12 (De-stressing ourselves) but it means our skin gets plenty of oxygen naturally! But don’t forget the SPF!

14. EXERCISE

While we are at it, and enjoying the great weather (we never know how long it will last) let take this opportunity to go for lovely summer strolls, or get the bicycle out or even start training for that marathon we always said we would do! Need some motivation then join a class, a great option is Bootcamps which is outdoors and in a group setting – we recommend www.bootcampireland.com

15. TAKE A MAKE-UP HOLIDAY

Give you skin a chance to really breathe in that lovely fresh air – leave the make-up off for a few days. Do you really need it on at the weekend? No make-up to put on more time for you to enjoy the things you want to.

16. START USING RETINOL

It is only now people are realising how amazing retinol is, it is a form of Vitamin A used to rejuvenate the skin by its slight exfoliating effect. Any skin can benefit from being renewed as in scars, wrinkles and other signs of aging are erased on the skin by retinol. It boosts collagen formation and keeps the skin looking fresh and young. Check out our non-peeling version of retinol mixed with Vitamin C here

17. EXFOLIATE AWAY DULL DEAD SKIN

See those tiny little holes on the skin? Usually found around the nose, chin and forehead these so called holes are tiny pores that can fill up with dirt thus causing blackheads. Don’t worry though as there is a way to reduce them right down and that my friend is from the power of exfoliation. When we exfoliate we remove the top layer of dead skin cells, if those dead skin cells are left on the skin, the skin can look and feel rough, dry and even bumpy. By exfoliating it off, we stimulate new cells to renew and underneath appear more beautiful, clearer skin. This new skin is tighter and the pores appear much smaller, in time the dirt from the pore will go too. Start your exfoliation regime now with Juliette Armand’s Dermabrasion Gel

18. STAY OUT OF HOT WATER

I know we all love a nice steamy shower; it feels good on the body and heats us right up. But hot water is not good for your delicate skin especially on the face. It causes redness, irritation, dries it out completely and actually in time causes premature ageing. If you can, lower that shower today and love the skin you’re in

19. EXFOLIATE… WITHOUT SCRUBBING

It’s all there in the title… we all love exfoliating and the results but what I have to stop you from doing is scrubbing until your red, even the most gentle movements on your skin will lift the dead skin cells. Increase your skin’s turnover and smooth its surface with an AHA exfoliator (alpha-hydroxyl acids like glycolic or lactic). Make sure to check the label to see how much AHA it contains and pick one between 4% and 8%. Expect some initial tingling but it should subside as your skin gets used to it.

20. MOISTURISERS SHOULD LAST

Most creams and lotions have key ingredients that create a protective barrier on the surface of the skin to lock in moisture, but some creams and lotions lose their hydration effect after only a few hours and the skin feels tight and dry again. Slather on a moisturiser with natural silicone and research shows that it locks in moisture for up to 24 hours, plumping and improving the appearance of fine lines as skin drinks up the moisture. Check out Juliette Armand’s Eshop to view all the moisturisers.

21. ACNE AND SPOT CONTROL

Most of us are cursed with spots whether it be the recurring spots that pop up around that time of the month or the non-budging ones that seem to hang around way to long. But thankfully Canadian Willowherb is your new best friend because it inhibits the action of propionobacterium acnes, responsible for 99% of acne cases. This natural extract from a bush has a lovely clean medical smell and comes in the form of a wash, toner, cream and tinted cream.

And there we have it, the top tips for glowing and radiant skin, please remember to drink lots of water every day to flush the body of toxins and It really is the small changes in life that can give big impacts on our self-confidence!
