What really is combination skin?

It doesn’t matter what age you are, how good/bad your diet is and how good you can handle stress heck it doesn’t even matter that we go through all 4 seasons in 1 day. All I know is we can all have lots of different skin conditions on our face at the one time. Basically we are all born with our skin type, whether you are trying to tackle dry or oily or bit of both, sensitive or acneic skin there will always be those pesky skin conditions that confuse you.

Combination skin is a mixture of skin types plus skin conditions on the face. You could, for example, have dry skin and fine lines on the forehead, dark circles under the eyes, blackheads on the nose, broken veins on the cheeks and oily skin on the chin with breakouts. Yes, this is actually pretty average now a days, and I think the main reason why you can’t help all your skin at once is because your skincare regime isn’t broad enough to treat all those conditions. The answer is to treat each area of your face for the specific treatment it needs. The fine lines on the forehead will need a totally different product to our breakout chin and unfortunately your moisturiser may not be able to tackle both.

The key for tackling all of these is with ingredients: Salicylic Acid is one of the most popular ingredients to use on breakouts/blackheads because it goes right down to the pore and cleans it out thus preventing the pimple in the first place. Hyaluronic Acid serum/filler and firming ingredients such as Liftessence are ideal for smoothing out fine lines. Vitamin B6+B12 are wonderful for calming down red, reactive, rosacea skin because of their anti-inflammatory effects and Canadian Willowherb inhibits the action of Propionibacterium Acnes, responsible for 99% of acne cases.

So you see, you may always have combination skin and that’s fine but don’t feel like you can’t improve your skin by treating each part as totally separate! We recommend you visit a professional Skincare Therapist to get you started on changing your skin.
